Cowichan’s school board is calling on the province for a public early childcare and learning system.
Trustees voted Wednesday to pen a letter to Education Minister George Abbott, as well as Premier Christy Clark, in support of the Community Plan for a Public System of Integrated Early Care and Learning, as proposed by Early Childhood Education B.C.
Trustees heard an outline of that plan during a delegation from Kate Skye and Mary Dolan at Wednesday’s board meeting.
“The board of education in Cowichan is proud to stand with the initiative of the Early Childhood Education B.C. to advance a full program of affordable, accessible high quality daycare for our families,” a school district press release states.
