The Regional Early Years Coordinator for the West Kootenay is pleased to see provincial ads on early learning programs... but they do have a concern.

The Regional Early Years Coordinator for the West Kootenay is hoping it was just an oversight that led the province to do ads on early learning programs, without including regulated child care in the province.

Dorothy Kaytor says there are 60-thousand kids in BC being looked after by trained early childhood educators... and they see kids at their earliest and most vulnerable stages.

The ads are focused on programs funded by the Ministry of Education, including Full Day Kindergarten... Kaytor says they'd like to see a more comprehensive approach like Ontario... combining child care and education systems for 5 year olds.
