What needs to be done?

"The City of Vancouver is actively working with senior levels of government and community partners toward a vision of integrated child care and early learning services that gives all children the best start possible.

"While the city supports over 2,800 quality licensed child-care spaces and contributes $1.5 million annually for services, there remains a critical shortage of care for the approximately 35,000 six- to 12-year-olds in Vancouver.

"Supporting school-age children and families with age-appropriate, supervised activities is not only good for children and their development, it's good economic value for the city, our workforce and our society."
