Daycare gets go-ahead
But some neighbours say 25 kids too many near homes

A Chilliwack daycare operator was given a permit to set up a 25-child facility in a downtown residential area at the last meeting of city council despite opposition from some neighbours.
… originally wanted to establish a 50-child daycare centre ... just a few houses down from … elementary, but neighbourhood opposition led her to change her application to 25.
A number of neighbours addressed council with concerns about traffic and parking… , as well as noise from so many children aged 30 months to five years.
…. a number of letters of support including one from Barb Presseau, co-ordinator for Chilliwack Community Services' Child Care Resource & Referral.
"It is important that child care spaces do not decrease," Presseau wrote. "Our province can find regulated child care for approximately only 20 per cent of the children needing care."….
