The cost of raising a family in Metro Vancouver is continuing to rise. The living wage for 2010 according to the "Canadian Center for Policy Alternatives" is $18.17.

It's based on basic expenses like housing, child care, food and transportation for a dual-income family with two young children -- including taxes, credits, deductions, and subsidies.

The CCPA says the reason B.C. continues to lead the nation in child poverty has a lot to do with low wages. That's why it is calling on more employers to adopt its living wage.
