All-day kindergarten will be available to a select group of Delta kids beginning this September…
Ayres said although details are still being worked out, starting this year the all-day program would be available at a certain number of schools for students considered at-risk.
"We focus on the more needy learners in our community. So it's not a socio-economic question. That's a question of children in our schools which are more vulnerable populations. That's the intent of the ministry (of education) in the first year of the rollout," he said….
The ministry expects schools to use surplus classrooms for any kindergarten expansion. They are also expected to preserve StrongStart BC programs and existing childcare programs that use school space.
