All-day K expands to more than 500

… Initially, the province talked about a general expansion of kindergarten but have backed off some to focus more on students that could use some additional resources for when they enter the school system.

"The full day K will be set up at specific schools and the criteria for choosing the schools will be students at risk, space availability, and day care availability. We will have more info in the new year," superintendent Corinne McCabe said in a news release….

At a board of education meeting in November, the district's director of instruction Mary-Anne Smirle told trustees that eight of the district's elementary schools met all the full-day kindergarten criteria while another five met every condition except for having an existing on-site child care program.
