The chair of the Saanich school board is concerned that some schools -- and students – might get left behind when all day kindergarten is implemented in BC….
"One of the things that I think was of most concern to the board last night -- and resulted in a motion going forward -- is the idea that we may not be allowed to implement this in all of our elementary schools," says board chair Mary Lynne Rimer….
Rimer says the board also has concerns surrounding costs, "the provincial government will provide the additional per-pupil amount for those students coming from half time to full time. But in terms of other costs associated -- such as the equipment and furniture and resources in the classroom -- there's no capital funding that's going to be provided.”
Despite the concerns, Rimer says the board does support all day kindergarten….
