Quality of Life survey highlights housing

They're all addressed in the Comox Valley 2009 Quality of Life Report, released last Thursday by the Comox Valley Social Planning Society (CVSPS).

Bunny Shannon, president of the CVSPS, presented the report at the Wachiay Friendship Centre.

She pointed out highlights from the report and spoke about the top social issues facing the Comox Valley.

"I think it's the perennial affordable housing, that's the biggest one, homelessness and affordable housing," she said.

One of the big issues that is missing from the report because they don't have the statistics is the child care situation, noted Shannon.

"We do know there's a crisis in child care in the Comox Valley, we just don't have stats," she said. "It's a moving target, I realize that; it changes so much, but it is something we would like to see and keep track of."….
