Comox council makes its list of property tax exemptions

The Town of Comox wants to waive $297,633 in property taxes for its churches, hospital, environmental organizations, golf course and legion.

About $141,077 is the town's share of the cost.

The bylaw passed first, second and third reading at the town's committee of the whole Wednesday and will need to be approved by the town council at a final reading.

The exemptions - an annual event in each local government - will see the Comox Legion and Comox Valley Children's Daycare Society receive 50 per cent of their property tax exempted.

In Courtenay, the legion will get a 100 per cent tax exemption in 2010, while day cares get nothing….
