Defer all-day K: trustees

Parents of young children may welcome the prospect of all-day kindergarten, but Richmond school trustees fear all other students will suffer if it is implemented with money that should be going to things like school maintenance.
While the Ministry of Education has cut annual school facilities grants and other funding from school districts, it has earmarked $150 million for the implementation of all-day kindergarten. Richmond school trustees feel that it's robbing Peter to pay Paul, so on Monday they passed a motion asking the province to defer implementation of all-day kindergarten….
