Having a child in tow doesn't keep Sarah Webb from being a year-round bicycle commuter.

Most days, she secures two-year-old son Quinn in a bike trailer and makes the five-kilometre ride to her job at the University of Victoria. Quinn attends daycare on campus and Webb works as UVic's sustainability co-ordinator, which involves her in "green" initiatives and programs.

"I really like to practise what I preach," she said. "It's really important to me to be able to say, 'I want to live in a city that supports cycling as a main mode of transportation.'" ….Webb said she is lucky to work at a place like UVic, where access to child care makes her bike commute much easier to arrange.

"It really speaks to how sustainability issues are so interconnected. When you have access to child care close to your work, it opens up more transportation options.”….
