….As MLA I will work to ensure that the goals of the communities are achieved with local support. As mentioned before our Rural Economic Development Fund will be there for communities to access. As will the Community and Jobs Protection Commissioner. This position will work with the local government, businesses, workers and unions to protect community infrastructure, save jobs and support emerging industries.
We will also look at investments in other areas such as B.C.'s agricultural industry, tourism, arts and culture. We also agree with the BC Chamber of Commerce that the time is now for an investment in child care. Next to housing child care is the second highest cost factor for families today. The B.C. Liberals decision not to prioritize child care has led to an enormous negative on the ability of BC businesses to attract women, young families and skilled workers to the work force….
