UVic tuition fees set to increase May 1

Students will be paying more for classes next year at the University of Victoria... a number of fee increases are still being implemented to boost revenue. This includes "modest" increases in child care, housing and parking fees. … "I can understand parking fees because that's part of a broader strategy to increase public transportation to the university. But there's a lack of child care on campus," Meggs [Caitlin Meggs, chair of the UVic Students' Society] said. "There's a huge wait list for daycare and we really need a solution to the child care problem. (Increasing child care costs) doesn't increase the spaces available for parents. It just increases what the people who are already there are paying."…
