Parents drive crucial daycare advocacy

Re: "Daycare program gets six-month extension," March 27.

It is the parents who have never given up that deserve the biggest kudos for this vote at park board. Phalgun Joshi and Kerri Abramson, in particular, organized parents and contacted all elected officials more than once. They even brought together a meeting of city and park board staff plus school board trustees, park board commissioners and a city councillor. While there are still obstacles to overcome (funding is still an issue), this relentless advocacy for the children and families who rely upon that childcare has been inspiring. I'd like to thank them for challenging us (elected officials) to work together and find a solution.
