VANCOUVER (NEWS1130) - Vulnerable children in B.C. are at risk because of cuts in the provincial budget, according to the province's child advocate.

Mary Ellen Turpel-Lafond is worried about plans to cut 200 full-time positions from the Ministry of Children and Families.

She tells the Sun newspaper the ministry hasn't recovered from overwhelming changes made three years ago.

That's when Judge Ted Hughes criticized the Liberal government for another round of cuts.

Children's Minister Tom Christensen has said the cuts will come in the "backroom" or administrative side of the ministry, not the front lines.
