It will be status quo for public school students in Vancouver during the 2010 Olympic games.

The Vancouver School Board has decided it will not close schools for the two weeks in February next year, nor will it move spring break up a month.  School Board Chair Patti Bacchus explains why.

"We have some very vulnerable students, we have families that would have difficulties arranging childcare coverage, we have literally thousands of students with special needs -- those kinds of transitions, changes and setting up care can be challenging as well."

She says they did hear support for closing school during the 2010 Games, but the Parent Advisory Council advised them not to.
