Pilot project may grow; Successful full-day program in kindergarten may expand

District staff will be looking at the possibility of expanding the full-day kindergarten pilot project to additional schools….

The program is currently in place at Maywood Community and Morley Elementary schools. It began in September 2008 to support English as a second language, aboriginal and special needs students who qualify for additional funding to enhance school readiness.

A formal report will come back to the board in June. In the meantime, the committee has asked district staff to look at the option of expanding the program to other schools where there are significant numbers of students who would qualify for the full-day funding….
