As the school board trustee who initiated the motion to reverse the policy that prevented licensed daycare services from using empty classrooms, I feel obligated to reply to the letter from Bev Smith, who (again) demonstrated her lack of understanding about daycare.

The people working in child care/daycare programs are not claiming to be K-12 teachers, nor are they undermining the role and responsibility of teachers.

From previous encounters with Ms. Smith, I know her real axe to grind is that daycare services exist at all, and her belief that all children should be at home with their mothers.
