City homeowners' property tax bills could rise by 8.2 per cent, while businesses could see hikes of 4.2 per cent, according to a report previewing the city's 2009 budget.
These hikes, which average 6.2 per cent for all property classes, would allow the city to maintain existing service levels and cover new funding proposals, according to the projections submitted this week by financial services general manager Annette Klein…
The report projects that the tax increase on a house valued at $783,000 will be $128….
The city's 2009 budget will be approved in late March….
Besides covering existing services, the 6.9-per-cent hike would cover:
- The continuation of the Project Civil City and the Ambassador Program
- Cover new initiatives proposed by the Vision Vancouver council, including a new mental health advocate, more child care, ….
