Go green now with stimulus funding

Instead of building highways and bridges for cars that produce greenhouse gases, Canada's economic stimulus package is an opportunity to retool the nation for a green future.

Investment in renewable energy sources, energy-efficient transportation systems that do not produce greenhouse gases and environmental reclamation and restoration creates jobs. …

A social benefits package would create "human capital" in the form of a better educated and trained workforce. The package to include social housing, training and education, early childhood education, day care and enhanced health care would employ teachers and support staff. Speeding up the seismic upgrading of B.C.'s schools and public buildings could also save children's lives.
