As the financial crisis gripping much of the world deepens, MLAs were called back to Victoria for just one week. After the Campbell government said there was no business that needed doing, it recognized British Columbians expected action.

It was a chance to talk about plans to reinvigorate and reshape the economy: changes that could take place in the forest industry, investments in green jobs, and a commitment to education and child care.
But B.C. Liberals don't want to commit to social fabric. For years, they have relied on others to provide the financial support that should come from government - that core funding that so many organizations rely on but have to turn to foundations instead….
