An $80,000 capital grant from the provincial government has helped to convert the old Cormorant Elementary School in Kitimat into a new multi-use facility…..the Kitimat Child Development Center.

Two rooms in the building have been renovated to provide needed childcare for children from the ages of newborn to five.

The building is also now home to Ktimat City High; the alternative school was previously housed in trailers. Reid says the provincial government is pushing towards more co-location facilities to create community hubs and save schools from closing.
