Re: After-care isn't a luxury, it's a necessity, Aug. 30

The present economic situation has parents struggling to have care provided for their children as they work outside the home to make ends meet.

I began working in a daycare centre in 1957. That centre didn't provide any after-school care. I decided the next daycare to be opened would have to provide that service. After spending five or six hours in school, the children need time for exercising outdoors, for something to eat and drink and for help with their homework and exposure to the arts. Any investment in the protection and well-being of children is the finest investment that can be made.
