Subsidies would attract more workers to vacant jobs: activist

A group of parents who say the province needs subsidies to increase the number of child-care spaces in B.C. rallied outside the legislature Sunday.
Parents for Childcare spokeswoman Michelle Kirby says the government needs to provide subsidies for child-care workers so better wages attract more caregivers.
She says wages are so low that people are leaving the sector. And, that means many positions are left vacant and the number of spaces down….
