New labour leader takes on gag law; Union boss wants to take on laws passed by the provincial Liberal government

The new president of the B.C. Government and Service Employees' Union will be discussing with labour colleagues how to attack Bill 42, the so-called gag law that prevents election advertising by third parties in the three months before a provincial election.
Daryl Walker, of Surrey, was elected on Sunday as to lead the BCGEU, replacing former leader George Heyman….
He also wants to work on a BCGEU campaign for increased child care in the province, and Walker is also expected to make the BCGEU a little greener as he has been chairman of the union's environmental committee for the time he has been on the executive….
