The West Kootenay Early Childhood Advisory Council is working on a solution.

The council has asked many employers to send out a child-care survey to their employers, chambers of commerce have also been provided with the survey and it will be available to everyone in the next issue of West Kootenay Family magazine.

The point of the survey is to gather as much information possible about what the different impacts are concerning the lack of child care.

The council already knows the economy and community are experiencing negative effects since lack of childcare causes parents to miss or quit work, which effects employers.

Also, if a family has one income, their purchasing power is impacted, which effects the economy.

After the surveys have been collected, the next step would be to report the information back to the public, then send the results to the Early Childhood Advisory Council who would try and come up with a strategic plan to rectify the growing problem….

"We really want to encourage everyone who feels the impact of this to fill it out, we need everyone's voice," [Kim Adamson] she added.
