… Overall funding for the capital region is $336,000, part of $12.5 million committed by the government last fall for 2,000 new child-care spaces around the province.
The money for the Lampson site will be overseen by CFB Esquimalt's Military Family Resource Centre, which gets $150,000.
Improvements to three classrooms will help create 36 new spaces for child care that are especially for military families. Any spaces not needed for that purpose will be available to the public…
NDP Leader Carole James responded to yesterday's funding announcement by saying the Liberals have actually cut child care "and ignored the needs of working parents."
She said the government has taken "a piecemeal approach" to a "crisis" situation instead of bringing in long-term solutions.
