Very little licensed daycare space in Vancouver

There is very little licensed daycare space in Vancouver and it takes 'years' to get in.

The average cost of putting an infant into full time childcare in Vancouver is $1000 a month.

An older child between the age of three and five averages $750 a month.

That's if you're lucky enough to get in according to Pam Best with the Westcoast Child Care Resource Centre...

"I know the waiting lists tend to very long … for parents when they're looking for childcare. We hear anywhere from two to three years to get into a childcare program."

The newest childcare facility still under construction in Vancouver … will allow for 49 new spaces but already 400 are on the waiting list.
