Stephen Hume makes some important points. But he misses a critical part of the equation. It's not just a workplace culture that prevents women from participating in the workforce, it's the lack of provincial and federal policy and inadequate government funding that blocks employable and skilled women. Without a publicly funded and high quality, affordable child care system for our community's children, women face a structural barrier as high as Mount Everest.
