Childcare critic coming to Valley

NDP Child Care Critic Claire Trevena is coming to two Cowichan Valley facilities Thursday, March 13 to hear what parents have to say about a shortage of childcare spaces here…

The New Democrats are launching a province-wide campaign called "Raising BC" and are kicking it off here.

"Our first stop is in Duncan. Parkside's got a great story. They have an infant-toddler component.

"There's a great need for more of those kinds of spaces but they can't apply for funding to increase their spaces because they say their school is slated for closure," Herman said. "It's a catch-22 situation for them."

Organizers of the event are hoping parents come out to speak to the Opposition's childcare critic.

"We know that it's a difficult time for some parents, with taking time off work. I know notice has gone out, though, and there will be people who have a lot to say," Herman said.
