Trustees await Budget with skepticism

VANCOUVER/CKNW(AM980) - As the Provincial Government prepares to roll out its budget, the Vancouver School Board is hoping more money will be directed towards education. But, trustees don't seem that optimistic.
Vancouver School Trustees hope the Provincial Government will provide more funding, especially after it proposed all-day kindergarten for kids as young as three.
But Board Chair Clarence Hansen isn't holding his breath, "If they give us all-day-k, we're going to have to scramble for space, and look for additional funding for that. And I'm hoping, certainly, that the Province comes forward with this funding, but I'm not terribly optimistic." Neither is trustee Sharon Gregson, "I think that it's about time we had full-day funding for kindergarten students, full-day for five-year olds. I think the time is long gone when half-day met the needs of five-year olds."
