NDP Party on election trail; Party leader, Carole James, pays a visit to Port Alberni party members

There was no haggis served at the Steelworker's Hall on Friday night…..

In her speech, James said that the plan is to push for some of the province's economic boom to trickle down. A related issue is the bill to increase minimum wage to $10 an hour, which James plans to revisit in the next session. Other items on the party's agenda are to appoint an independent senior's advocate, formulate a child-care plan, improve environmental protection and "stop giving away forest land".

While James was clearly preaching to the converted it seems that in Port Alberni, at least, her message hit the mark and the NDP is in fine form for the provincial election, which is still over a year away…
