Opinion -- By Laureen Jones, Brookswood Kids' Place Society

Dear Editor,

I am writing to express my support of the LBA's application to have slot machines at the Langley Bingo Hall.

I am the chairperson on the board of directors at Brookswood Kids Place (BKP). We are a volunteer-run, non-profit organization that provides a quality preschool and out-of-school program in the Brookswood Community….

Our facility employs five fine, well-trained employees and has more than 60 children enrolled in our various programs.

Accordingly, our centre provides a special and very important service in our community, where child care is limited. Our existence has a huge, positive impact on our members.

BKP holds a certificate of affiliation to the Langley Bingo Hall, and receives approximately $15,000 annually through gaming funds. Those funds are imperative to our survival.

In the event that the Bingo Hall was unable to operate, …. We would be forced to either greatly increase our fees or possibly even close our centre….
