Families feel forced out
Langley Advance

Dear Editor,
We are a new family that moved into Langley about a year ago. We have two children: one started at Simonds Elementary in September, and one is almost three, a future addition to the school system.
Our home is within safe walking distance of Simonds, as well as H.D. Stafford Secondary. That was a great deciding factor in buying our home.
Should Stafford be reconfigured, you can guarantee that the Langley School District will experience more enrolment decline….
Our daycare has informed us that, should the reconfiguration occur despite the public outcry, she will be taking her children out of the district. We will really have no choice but to follow, as we do not want to have to find daycare again. It was difficult enough the first time.
Why does the school board think it has the authority to make such life-changing decisions to people's lives without even listening to the people they are affecting?
They manipulate time to avoid the confrontations that are bound to occur, filling meeting agendas full, allowing only 15 minutes of discussion time, and then leaving when that time is up.
They arbitrarily change allowable delegation numbers, limit presentation time, and then make passing comments on potential elementary school closures, with no discussion allowed….
