Group urges tax to curb emissions; Gov't committee hears presentations to help get ready for next B.C. budget

…The legislative committee, composed of Liberal and New Democrat members, is touring the province to hear presentations in preparation for the February provincial budget. The committee met in Kamloops Wednesday afternoon.
The theme of this year's budget consultation paper is entitled: What choices would you make for a greener future? Few presentations at the Kamloops hearings or elsewhere, however, focused on meeting the B.C. Liberal government's aggressive targets to reduce carbon emissions.
The majority of presentations to the committee came from groups and agencies wanting increased funding, including for post-secondary education and child care….
