Strike support

The support that we have received has been overwhelming.

Parents and their children are continually coming to visit us on the picket line, bringing coffee and snacks to keep us warm. We know that they also continue to work hard for us behind the scenes. We thank you very much!

The BCGEU Component Executive also came out to join on the picket line on Thursday, September 20. Included were Component 3 Chairperson, James Cavalluzzo, and Local Chairperson, Stephanie Seaman. We thank them for taking the time to come out and support us on the line.

We have also received support and good wishes from the Coalition of Child Care Advocates of BC, Claire Trevena, BCGEU Local 309, CUPE Local 3338, PSAC, TSSU and other members of the university community. We thank everyone for your continued support…

Bears visit picket line

Picketers on University Drive West headed back up to the residence parking lot on Friday after encountering a mother bear and her cub ... good plan. In fact, it is not advisable for you to picket on University Drive if you are alone. Please take along a couple of friends with you and make lots of noise to let the bears know that you are there. If you do encounter bears along this stretch of roadway, don't hang around. And for goodness sake, don't stop to see if the porridge is just right.
