A $50,000 grant from the provincial government will provide
80 new preschool child-care spaces in Prince George…
Coupled with a $30,000 contribution from the Commonwealth Financial
golf tournament and a $10,000 contribution from Canfor, Exploration
Place staff has $90,000 to renovate, carpet and install plumbing
in the 1,340-square-foot area, and purchase equipment and teaching
tools…
In making the announcement, Shirley Bond, MLA for Prince George-Mount
Robson, said, "What happens to kids in their early years
is important for when they get into school. They need to have
learning opportunities and places to play in friendly and safe
areas."
"This will go a long way to setting up our preschool, so
on behalf of our board and the cookie monsters here today we
thank you," said Tom Dielissen, president of the Fraser-Fort
George Museum Society, speaking for the 50 Science Alliance
camp children present, who had all been given cookies and juice
to keep them quiet during the speeches…. |
