Esquimalt town council is calling a public hearing to address
the inclusion of larger day care centres in commercial areas.
Amending the bylaw to include "Group Children's Day
Care Centre" will accommodate commercial establishments
in core centres....
Instead of implementing a site-specific rezoning, council will
consider allowing larger day cares in all neighbourhood commercial,
core commercial and town centre areas.
Future development in the area could potentially call for more
children centres. Rezoning would make for a quicker establishing
process.
"They would still have to meet all the provincial requirement,
but it allows for a smoother process," said Frank Limshue,
the town's director of development services. … |
