A short-sighted and dogmatic approach to apprenticeships has led to frustrating shortages of skilled trades on jobsites, according to Cowichan-Ladysmith MLA Doug Routley….

"There was a huge failure on the part of government in canceling the $15 a day child care allowance. If you look to Quebec, you see they have a $7 per day universal child care program and they have the lowest skill shortage and the highest participation of women in the skilled trades of any province.
