…"Our members have made the difficult decision to take job action because they cannot afford to continue to subsidize child care services for other families by accepting low wages and cuts to benefits," BCGEU President George Heyman explains.

"We want parents to know that we do not agree with the employer's suggestion that raising parent fees is the main option for addressing our demands," Heyman emphasizes.

"We call on the employer and parents to let Simon Fraser University and the BC government know that they have an obligation to provide the necessary funding to support quality, affordable, child care services. That includes ensuring that early childhood educators receive equitable wages and benefits for the important work they do."
