Victoria -- The B.C. government is boosting child-care fees for children under 3, but most of the increases amount only to a few cents a day.

The increases are being applied to the daily rates parents pay to licensed child-care providers.

The rate for children getting four hours or less of group care will rise 86 cents to $6 a day, while the rate for more than four hours will rise by $1.72 to $12 a day.

In the family care category, the rate for children getting four hours or less will rise by just 26 cents a day.
