Liberals planning for imminent federal election

Mike Coleman, president of the Nanaimo-Cowichan Liberal Association,
says his party expects a federal election to be called within
the next few months and they're gearing up on issues they feel
are important to Canadians, issues on which the Conservative
government has dropped the ball.
They think an election call is imminent, he said, because a
minority government, such as the one presided over by the federal
Conservatives, is inherently unstable…
An informal poll conducted by the Liberal Association at their
AGM Sunday found issues they think are most important are climate
change, First Nations issues, including the withdrawal of support
for the Kelowna Agreement on improving First Nations health,
education and economic development, cutting funds for a national
child care program, and the softwood lumber agreement, with
which many in B.C.'s forest industry are unsatisfied.
Coleman said the poll findings pretty closely mirror general
public opinion in a lot of areas… |
