Money should buy quality

Dear Editor:

I think it is quite insulting that the MLAs might get a raise.

I can understand that if we want quality, we need to pay for it. That is why there was a 14% pay cut to the HEU in 2004; we don't need that quality of health care.

That is also why the teachers had to go on strike in 2005, because we don't need that quality of education.

Perhaps the MLAs should go on strike for two weeks (without strike pay), then they could take a cut like others have.

Paying the MLAs more now will not transform them into something of quality. And I doubt it will attract more quality in candidates in future elections.

If the province has money to pay this kind of raise, it should put it back into health care, childcare and education.
