Re: More than money determines who cares for a child, Voice of the People, March 21

Unfortunately, letter writer Nancy Kalid does indeed come across sounding like a "dinosaur" in suggesting that parents (read: women) give up their careers to care for their children.

I have two university degrees, which tax dollars subsidized, as does my husband. By keeping me and women in my position out of the work force to care for our children, we are wasting valuable tax dollars. We would also be depriving society of our contributions.

My son Evan loves being with other children, being cared for by a dedicated child-care professional. I enjoy my career where I am able to put my training to work. It is a win-win situation. I can't understand why Kalid doesn't think this is a good thing.
