Comparing quality childcare to a Cadillac that society can't afford, and stating that unregulated care is "good service", it makes me wonder if Randy Hawes would eat in a restaurant that was not licensed.

Yes some daycare centers could be compared to a Cadillac in terms of safety, comfort, and quality. The staff is trained in early childhood development, it is regulated, and it is regularly inspected. The people that work in the child-care field are there because they genuinely want to help children grow in the best possible way. If we are using analogies I would like to compare childcare to our government representatives. It doesn't matter how big they are or how much money they get their quality of service depends on how well they know their subjects.
