I agree that parents in this region are left with few choices when it comes to finding child care.

I moved to Victoria from the Kootenays in September. Because the University of Victoria's day-care centres were already full and had huge wait-lists, my fiance and I spent three days on the phone trying to find a day care for our two-year-old son before work and school started. That we found one at all was due to pure luck and some help from a relative.

More needs to be done to address the problem of child-care spaces to make it easier for parents to work and attend school, rather than stay home.
