Social programs define Canada as nation

I can't stand by any longer and see our present government eroding all the values and policies that mean "Canada" to me.

Cutting back on social programs such as child care and allowing creeping privatization of health care, for example, in order to cut taxes for large corporations and make the wealthy even wealthier is not my vision of Canada.

The government seems to have forgotten that spending also stimulates the economy and that the role of government should be to meet the needs of all Canadians, not just their big-business buddies.

Yes, I am prepared to pay more taxes in order to keep social programs. Yes, I agree we should reduce our national debt.

But at a reasonable rate and not at the expense of the programs that make living in Canada such a privileged place to be.

And no, I don't want tax cuts to help the "rich get richer and the poor get poorer."
