A matter of necessity

Lydia Lovric's column (Oct. 13) was the talk of the office today.

Unfortunately, I feel that her opinion is closed-minded.

Does she not realize many families need daycare in order for both parents to work and make enough money to pay for living expenses?

Many families are desperate to find someone to take care of their children. Also, Lovric has forgotten about single parents, who need to work.

I agree that good daycare is important. But can you imagine paying $45-$60 a day for daycare, and then only making $100 a day?

There is barely any money left; which is why many people have to opt for lower-cost daycare.

It is a matter of necessity, not choice.
