.... The select standing committee on education travelled
to Prince George, pens poised, listening intently to concerns
voiced by several representatives from area organizations.
More than a dozen presentations were heard during a four-hour
session by a panel of MLAs, including three former school
board trustees.
The event took place at the Native Friendship Centre.
[Rebecca ]Beuschel of Quesnel works in the College of New
Caledonia region, which covers a wide area, from Burns Lake
to Valemount and Mackenzie to Quesnel.
She spoke of both the hard physical and emotional journey
required for adult learners to make their difficulties known.
"Adult learners face so many challenges...transportation,
food, child care, finances, remote and rural lifestyles and
health are just some of the areas that present regular barriers
for adult learners," she said.
